Robbery reported at Union Park

Des Moines police are investigating a reported Thursday evening robbery at Union Park.

Jarrett Hall, 21, ended up in the hospital but told police the wallet the robbers got away with didn?t have any cash in it, authorities said.

According to police, Hall and his girlfriend went to leave Union Park around 7 p.m. As he climbed into the driver?s seat of his car, two men approached, one from the driver?s side and the other from the passenger?s. One was apparently wearing a mask and the other had sunglasses on his face.

The man on the driver?s side demanded money and pointed a gun at Hall through the car?s open window, police said. When Hall didn?t provide any cash, the suspect hit him on the top of the head with the butt of the gun, causing a laceration to the top of his head that began bleeding, authorities said.

Hall handed over his wallet, which contained no money, and both men ran away.

Hall?s girlfriend drove him to the hospital and he called police.

No suspects are listed in the police report.
