JACKSON, Miss. (AP) ? Rock 'n' roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis has married for a seventh time in Mississippi, and the new bride is his cousin's ex-wife.
The Adams County circuit clerk's office said the marriage license shows Lewis was married March 9 to Judith Ann Coghlan Brown in Natchez, Miss. The 76-year-old Lewis, also known as "The Killer," is famous for top hits like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."
The bride, who is in her early 60s, was previously married to one of Lewis' cousins and was close to his daughter, Phoebe Lewis, said the bride's sister, Carolyn Coghlan Gremillion of Madison. She said Brown started working for Lewis several years ago as his caretaker.
Gremillion said the wedding was small. The only guests were Gremillion and her husband, and Lewis' sister and her husband.
"She's real happy," Gremillion told The Associated Press on Friday. "They have a really very loving relationship. I guess she's probably really taken better care of him than anybody."
Gremillion said Lewis had a wild reputation when he was younger, but: "He's a very different man now. You know how people change as they grow older. He's a very spiritual man."
Calls to the Lewis home in Nesbit reached a voice mailbox that was full. Lewis' daughter lives with him.
Judith Brown was previously married to Lewis' cousin Rusty. They divorced in 2010.
Rusty's older sister, Myra Gale Brown, married Lewis in 1957 when she was 13 and was his third wife. That marriage caused shockwaves for Lewis' career.
Lewis' last marriage ended in 2004 when he divorced Kerrie McCarver after 20 years together.
In 2010, Lewis announced a book deal with It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins.
Alberto Rojas, director of publicity for It Books, said Friday that the book deal is still on and that the memoir will be released in 2013.

Study indicates existence of billions of habitable alien planets in Milky Way (+video)
A survey of red dwarf stars suggests that, in our galaxy alone, there are tens of billions of planets orbiting their stars' 'habitable zones.'?
There should be billions of habitable, rocky planets around the faint red stars of our Milky Way galaxy, a new study suggests.
Skip to next paragraph A team of planet hunters led by astronomers at the University of California (UC), Santa Cruz and the Carnegie Institution of Washington has announced the discovery of a planet orbiting a nearby star, Gliese 581, at a distance that places it squarely in the middle of the star's 'habitable zone.'Though these?alien planets?are difficult to detect, and only a few have been discovered so far, they should be ubiquitous, scientists say. And some of them could be good candidates to host extraterrestrial life.
The findings are based on a survey of 102 stars in a class called?red dwarfs, which are fainter, cooler, less massive and longer-lived than the sun, and are thought to make up about 80 percent of the stars in our galaxy.
Finding super-Earths
Using the HARPS spectrograph on the 3.6-metre telescope at the European Southern Observatory's La Silla Observatory in Chile, astronomers found nine planets slightly larger than Earth over a six-year period. These planets, called super-Earths, weigh between one and 10 times the mass of our own world, and two of the nine were discovered in the?habitable zone?of their parent star, where temperatures are right for liquid water to exist.
Extrapolating from these findings, the researchers estimate that tens of billions of these planets are to be found in the Milky Way, and about 100 should lie in the immediate neighborhood of the sun. [Vote Now! Strangest Alien Planet Finds]
"Our new observations with HARPS mean that about 40 percent of all?red dwarf stars have a super-Earth?orbiting in the habitable zone where liquid water can exist on the surface of the planet," team leader Xavier Bonfils of the Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers de Grenoble in France said in a statement. "Because red dwarfs are so common ? there are about 160 billion of them in the Milky Way ? this leads us to the astonishing result that there are tens of billions of these planets in our galaxy alone."
The two stars found inside the habitable zone were discovered around the stars Gliese 581 and?Gliese 667 C.?The latter planet is the second of three worlds orbiting its star, and seems to lie right in the middle of Gliese 667 C's habitable zone. Although the planet has four times the mass of Earth, it is considered the closest twin to Earth found so far.
Search for life
This and other planets are good candidates for follow-up studies that aim to analyze the atmospheres of these worlds for signs that organisms are living there.
"Now that we know that there are many super-Earths around nearby red dwarfs, we need to identify more of them using both HARPS and future instruments," said team member Xavier Delfosse. "Some of these planets are expected to pass in front of their parent star as they orbit ? this will open up the exciting possibility of studying the planet's atmosphere and searching for signs of life."
However, there are some issues with looking for life around red dwarfs.
Since these stars are cooler than the sun, their habitable zones are much closer in than ours. That puts any planets there at risk of being hit with stellar eruptions or flares, which are common on red dwarfs. Such flares could release X-rays or ultraviolet radiation that could harm or inhibit the development of life, scientists say.
The new findings will be described in a paper to be published in an upcoming issue of the journal?Astronomy & Astrophysics.

NEW YORK (AP) ? Friends and relatives of the co-pilot of JetBlue Airways flight 191 say he doesn't want to be considered a hero ? but that's exactly what many are calling him.
Pilots train for a range of in-flight mishaps including sick passengers, emergency landings and terrorist attacks. But Jason Dowd faced the rarest of scenarios: deciding whether to lock his incapacitated captain out of the cockpit and make an emergency landing after Clayton Osbon became unruly Tuesday.
Dowd is staying out of the public eye for now, but a wave of overnight fame likely awaits. JetBlue says the decision on whether to go public is up to him.
His mother-in-law Ruth Ann Kostal said Thursday that Dowd doesn't think he's a hero, but she's not surprised he acted cool under pressure.

To do so is a mistake, and the more you buy, the more cheap phones flood the market, and thus more people are walking around with crap up against their faces. And after hearing that Samsung has sold 5 million Galaxy Notes, I think it may be time to make my own plea: Please stop buying giant phones. Now, obviously I don't take this request as seriously as the whole cheap Android phone thing. But I was actually musing to myself just last night that if people continue to buy phones with 4.5-inch + screen sizes, phone makers will think that's OK. It's not. Zimmerman told police he fired in self-defense and police did not arrest him, touching off widespread public outrage and protests across the country.
Martin's supporters believe race played a role in the shooting. Martin was black; Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is Hispanic.
"The family has had death threats, the father and mother, George has had death threats. Anything related to George is a target," said Miguel Meza, who identified himself as Zimmerman's cousin.
George Hall, a retired Presbyterian minister, said he was Zimmerman's neighbor for 20 years in Manassas, Va., until about 2001. Hall said Zimmerman and his brother attended church, and he wrote a recommendation for Zimmerman for a police academy in 2004.
"Their parents taught them to treat everybody with respect. I'm tired of hearing about this race thing," Hall said. "It could be an element in it ... but I never would have thought of him as being a racist. His father was in the Army and was a white American and his mother was Peruvian. That makes him 50 percent Peruvian. A lot of stuff I hear, it irks me because people are drawing their own conclusions with very little evidence."
Meza spoke only briefly over the telephone to a reporter from The Associated Press. It wasn't immediately clear if he had talked to Zimmerman since the shooting, but he said other relatives are afraid to comment publicly, even though they think he is being treated unfairly.
"The media has been quick to demonize George, but Trayvon Martin was no angelic boy walking," Meza said.
Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner, has said in more than one interview that his client's nose was broken during the fight with Martin.
The Orlando Sentinel, citing anonymous sources, has reported that Martin grabbed Zimmerman's head and banged it several times against the sidewalk. A statement from Sanford police said the newspaper's story was "consistent" with evidence turned over to prosecutors.
Sonner said the gash on the back of Zimmerman's head probably was serious enough for stitches, but he waited too long for treatment so the wound was already healing.
Zimmerman said he began crying for help; Martin's family thinks it was their son who was crying out. Witness accounts differ and 911 tapes in which the voices are heard are not clear.
Martin was at least 6 feet tall, several inches taller than the 5-foot-9 Zimmerman. Meza said Martin was not the child he appears to be in photos flashed across television and newspapers.
"George was in a fight for his life," Meza said.
Martin's supporters, including a host of outspoken celebrities and civil rights leaders who have appeared on television for the past two weeks, don't believe Zimmerman's story. They want him arrested and prosecuted, and his parents think their son is being painted in a negative light by a police department leaking information to the news media.
The teenager was suspended from school three times this year. In October, he wrote obscene graffiti on a door at his high school. During a search of his backpack, campus security officers found 12 pieces of jewelry, a watch and a screwdriver that they thought could be used as a burglary tool, according to a school police report obtained by the Miami Herald.
When campus security confronted Martin, he told them a friend had given him the jewelry, but he wouldn't give a name. The Miami-Dade Police Department said Tuesday the jewelry could not be tied to any reported thefts.
Martin had previously been suspended for excessive absences and tardiness and, at the time of his death, was serving a 10-day suspension after school officials found an empty plastic bag with marijuana traces in his backpack.
His parents spent Tuesday at a forum organized by Congress on racial profiling and hate crimes. They spoke briefly before a Democrats-only congressional panel as cameras clicked noisily in front of them.
"Trayvon was our son, but Trayvon is your son," Sybrina Fulton, Martin's mother, told the panel. "A lot of people can relate to our situation and it breaks their heart like it breaks our heart."
Eric Gross, who was Zimmerman's classmate in high school in Virginia, said the shooting was surprising because he remembered Zimmerman as a "good guy."
"We had a couple classes together. He was just fun-going, got along with everybody that was in our classes," Gross said.
Another of Zimmerman's friends said Zimmerman would tell the teen's parents he's "very, very sorry" if he could.
Speaking Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America," Joe Oliver said Zimmerman is not a racist and has virtually lost his own life since the shooting.
"This is a guy who thought he was doing the right thing at the time, and it's turned out horribly wrong," said Oliver, one of the few blacks to come forward in support of Zimmerman.
Victor Rodriguez, who lives in Zimmerman's neighborhood, said he often saw him walking around, but he didn't know if that was part of his patrol. Now, he's not sure what to think.
"It makes you feel a little bit safe but knowing what happened and everything, it's kind of like confusing in a way. We don't want people to be in the neighborhood. You have kids running around. You don't want robberies going down," Rodriguez said.

Brown Faces in White Places doing science (and wearing hoodies)
I was having a Twitter conversation with @LeafWarbler about being a lone brown face in a research setting.? I told him of my adventures in field research in rural Illinois (outside of Urbana-Champaign).? I was trapping small mammals on corn fields just off of a rural road. It became common for law enforcement to show up and check me out.? For each visit, I would have to explain that I had permission to be there (provide name of land owner), who I was, what I was doing (often having to show them the animals I had in hand to prove it), and wait. Wait for the call-in and confirmation.
After so many visits, one cop eventually said he?d leave a note with dispatch so that they would stop responding to calls about me.
LeafWarbler asked if I was wearing a hoodie (when the cops arrived while I was doing research); and I laughed because, yeah, I was.

Being stopped or suddenly surrounded by authorities isn?t a new thing to many researchers.? However, researchers of color who do research in the field (also outdoors men and women) have these kinds of stories to share, often.? We laugh about it, but it?s quite sad that something about ?us? ? hoodie or not, evokes such fear and suspicion.

I donned my hoodie for Trayvon Martin.? Like so many other people I couldn?t believe how the law was interpreted and how George Zimmerman was allowed to walk away from killing this young man without so much as a Grand Jury trial.? And yes, it felt personal and real and quite possible for me.

This is my younger brother, known as the ?One Boy?, because he?s my mother?s (and father?s) only son.? My parents love all of us, but my brother evokes a hard to explain protection from them and from me and my sisters as well.? Perhaps it?s because he?s the youngest.? Perhaps it?s because we all worry about trouble finding him, getting hurt or getting that call that breaks hearts.?? It?s a fear that is all to real for most people I know from my Memphis neighborhood. I?ll admit I prefer him when he looks like this:
all cleaned up. But something about his size, his booming voice, dark brown skin, and long locks while wearing a hoodie (like above) evoke suspicion in others, especially authority figures.? A year and a half ago, he and my cousin were approaching my sister?s front door when the cops began questioning without cause.? They were looking for someone who stayed next door to her, but decided they looked suspicious enough and they were taken into custody immediately.? The charge: ?Standing in the street?.? No kidding, I can?t make this up.? I know my brother?s dress didn?t help convince them that he wasn?t a gang member. (He was wearing a red hoodie ? his high school colors, in a known Blood neighborhood).? But I also know that city cops are known to harass and abuse young men for no real cause.? I beat the police to the police station which was only 4 blocks away and demanded to see my brother and cousin.? They weren?t there. In fact, the dispatcher had no record of any young men being picked up in the last 30 minutes.? I quickly whipped out my ?Dr title ?and called my ACLU lawyer friend.
Within moments, my brother and cousin were returned to my sister?s house, unharmed.? Maybe things turned out fine without my intervention; but the sad fact is, this is the life of many young men ? black, brown, even white.? Something about a certain style of dress and appearance evoke suspicion in some people. And everyday, poor (inner-city) people are abused or killed by cops and vigilantes like George Zimmerman.
I?m not sure of the psychology of this madness, but Melanie Tannenbaum addresses some of these demons with her Guest Blog post Trayvon Martin?s Psychological Killer: Why We See Guns That Aren?t There.
But to me, the banter around the topic really calls to mind this notion of Brown Faces in White Places.? Dr. Caroyn Finney wrote her dissertation on African-Americans and the great outdoors which included how people of color often have negative experiences because of the reactions of authorities or other visitors.? She became aware of this notion of place as a child. She grew up? on a 13-acre estate in a wealthy white neighborhood of Mamaroneck, N.Y., where her parents worked, taking care of the grounds and house.
It was, she recalls, ?a beautiful piece of property,? with flower and vegetable gardens, a lake, and a variety of fruit trees. The owners, who were there only on weekends and holidays, lived in ?what I call the big house.?
?I remember being 9, and walking home from school,? she says. ?There were always police patrolling the neighborhood, and one day there was a new policeman on patrol. When he saw me walking home he asked, ?Where are you going?? And I said, ?Oh, around the corner,? and I gave him the address. And he said, ?Do you work there???
Even in the recounting, Finney is incredulous. ?I?m 9,? she repeats. ?I said, ?No, I live there.? And so, reflecting back, I was completely out of place.?
And I imagine that is what is happening with so many of us who do science ? in the field or industry ? or work in academia.? Somehow, no one was expecting to see this face ? this brown face or young face or female face or male face or unkempt face or this hoodie-clad face, whatever it may be.? Oftentimes, persons of authority and persons of privilege (usually one in the same) have no problem descending upon us, questioning our presence in this place. Asking, nay, demanding that we justify our presence in a place. Behave in an acquiescent manner while we are being held up and distracted from our jobs or simply minding our law-abiding business, lest we be arrested or harmed. ?And until the possibility that any kind of face could be the one doing science or teaching class or leading project or walking down the street in a gated-community with Skittles and an Ice Tea, then we?re still likely to have conversations like these in the future.

The schools of New Orleans have the difficult task of not only educating thousands of children, but also attempting to maintain an environment that is safe for all students.?
