Kevin Bacon was stunned to learn about the upcoming Footloose movie because he was convinced he would never see a remake of the film in his lifetime.
The 1984 movie propelled the actor to superstardom, and professional dancer Kenny Wormald is reprising Bacon's role as Ren McCormack for an updated version, set for release later this year.
Bacon admits he was shocked when he discovered Footloose was set for a revival - but he is looking forward to watching a screening of the film.
He tells British morning show Daybreak, "To realise that you're old enough to have a movie that you were in (remade)... was a little bit of a shock, I have to say. It was something that didn't even occur to me - that I'd be alive and they'd be remaking a picture of mine.
"Cool - let's see how it is. I'm looking forward to it."
